The Burrage Pond Wildlife Management Area in Hanson is made up of over 2,000 acres of shallow waters and ponds that were once used as cranberry bogs. Today, the area is a wildlife management area that the state reserves for local fish, birds, and other native creatures. The park offers an impressive 10-mile system of trails that are easy to walk because they were once used for tending the cranberry bogs. While boats are not permitted on Burrage’s ponds and waterways, shoreline fishing is allowed.
