Save the Date: July 4th Events in Halifax, MA
Posted on June 23rd, 2026 to Events by Flower and Soul
In a town like Halifax, the Fourth of July is more about neighbors than scale. The best July 4th events in Halifax have a small-town energy that larger cities just can’t match.
This year is even more special, as it honors the United States Semiquincentennial: 250 years of American independence! The state’s role in the nation’s independence will be further celebrated during the Massachusetts 250. The event will feature the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular and include performances by Lainey Wilson, Chance the Rapper, Trombone Shorty, and more.
Events Across Plymouth County This Independence Day
There are several exciting things to do as Halifax celebrates Independence Day.
1. Halifax Fireworks Celebration
Halifax lights up the night on Saturday, June 27, with a community fireworks celebration running from 5 PM to 10 PM behind Halifax Elementary School at 464 Plymouth Street. The evening includes a DJ, food vendors, face painting, and additional activities to keep things going before the main event. It’s a full night of community fun with the fireworks as the grand finale.
2. A Plymouth Community Ceremony for America’s 250th
Plymouth is marking America’s 250th birthday with a community ceremony in Town Square on Saturday, June 27, at 1 PM. The event brings together residents, local and state officials, and community organization representatives for a civic commemoration centered on the Declaration of Independence.
A highlight of the program is a public reading of the Declaration performed by a group meant to represent Plymoutheans from both 1776 and today! The ceremony also includes patriotic songs, a flag raising, and a color guard salute, alongside remarks from town officials.
Given Plymouth’s deep roots in early American history, the town holds a particularly meaningful place in the national Semiquincentennial story. All Plymouth residents are encouraged to show up and be part of this one-of-a-kind observance.
3. Plymouth 4th of July Parade
Plymouth packs a full day of Fourth of July programming, kicking off at 7:30 AM, with the 11th Annual 4th of July 5K at DCR Pilgrim Memorial State Park, followed by the town parade starting at 9 AM from Mayflower Business Park on Court Street.
The parade route along Water Street will be closed starting at 6 AM, so spectators should plan to be parked and in position by 8 AM. Food trucks from Alden Park, Mom on the Go, and Street Pops will be set up on the waterfront from parade time through the end of fireworks, with roaming vendors selling novelty items, popcorn, and cotton candy throughout the day.
The Plymouth Philharmonic takes the stage at DCR Pilgrim Memorial State Park at 7:30 PM, with fireworks launching at 9:15 PM. Arrive at least an hour early to secure parking and make the walk to the park. For anyone who can’t get to the state park, Burial Hill and Nelson Park are among the alternative viewing spots around town.
