You’ll know roots are forming when the clone resists a gentle tug, or when you can see white tips poking through the bottom of the rooting medium.

Some strains root faster than others. A slow-rooting clone at day 10 isn’t necessarily a lost cause, but if there’s no sign of roots by day 14, something in the environment is worth looking at.

Clones don’t get watered the same way established plants do. During the rooting phase, the humidity dome does most of the work. You’re misting the inside of the dome once or twice a day to maintain moisture, not saturating the rooting medium from the top. Overwatering is one of the most common ways to lose a clone.

Keep the dome vents closed for the first few days, then crack them gradually as roots start showing to help the clone adjust to lower ambient humidity. Once it’s standing firm with visible root development, it’s ready to come out of the dome and transition to normal vegetative care.
