What is 710? A Halifax, MA Guide to Concentrates

Halifax is a small town, but much of its cannabis community is familiar with 710, and Flower & Soul is ready to celebrate it! Our shop, tucked into Plymouth County, sees plenty of customers curious about trying concentrates for the first time.

Some of these customers are simply looking for a good recommendation about which products are worth trying; others are unfamiliar with 710 and curious about the meaning of the date. This guide will serve as a cultural explainer and guide to products worth picking up.

What is 710?

The meaning of 710 is a clever bit of wordplay: if you flip “710” upside down, you get “oil,” which is shorthand for cannabis oil and concentrates. The term first came into use in early online concentrate forums and was used by concentrate consumers long before dispensaries started putting it on calendars.

The 710 celebration is crowdsourced from the culture itself, arising organically until July 10th became the unofficial day to celebrate concentrates in all their forms.

What Products Does 710 Actually Celebrate?

So what does it mean to celebrate 710? The day honors the entire concentrate category. This includes live resin, live rosin, wax, distillate, and cannabis oil cartridges. These products deserve their own holiday because they are a bit more complex than flower. The extraction process is a science, and dialing in flavor and potency takes expertise. Though the celebrations started as an online niche, they are now a staple in dispensaries everywhere, with most shops marking the occasion annually.
